Multi-Cultural Collaboration – Why Do They Do That?

In today’s work environment, global teams are common place.  However, many BAs are challenged to recognize and overcome the cultural barriers to collaboration and project success.  In “Why Do They Do That?” is developed for an international audience.  In it, the BA will learn what culture is and contributors to cultural blindness.  The presentation explores how different cultures solve problems, view time and use space differently resulting in conflicts within the team.  Real examples of common collaboration cultural barriers are identified and recommendations provided based on nearly 30 years’ experience of managing successful multi-culture teams from the US, Middle Eastern, Indian subcontinent, German, and Japanese cultures.

Presentation Goals:

  • Introduce the Business Analyst to the basic concepts of cultural behavior
  • Explain the differences between low and high context culture
  • Provide real world examples of global and multi-national team collaboration
