IIBA DALLAS CHAPTER MEETING NOVEMBER 17TH, 2016

Thursday, November 17, 2016 -
5:00pm to 7:00pm

Developing a Holistic Strategic Plan:

The BABOK defines Enterprise Analysis as "...activities necessary to identify a business need, problem, or opportunity..."

Top presentation goals:

  • Analyze the business situation in order to fully understand business problems and opportunities.
  • Assess the capabilities of the enterprise in order to understand the change needed to meet business needs and achieve strategic goals..."
  • Often business process re-engineering is performed to identify the business need, problem, or opportunity but excludes the information systems in the analysis
  • What processes should be the highest priority, and how to justify the priority?
  • Organization believes they intuitively "know" where to begin, but do they really?
  • There is a technique known as Resource Life Cycle Analysis which is performed prior to business process re-engineering to create an Information System Plan (ISP).

About the Speaker:

Dagmar Cole

Dagmar Cole has over twenty years' experience in the full software development life cycle with extensive experience performing systems planning and strategic planning.  Her career began at Atlantic Research Corporation in the Quality Assurance department crunching numbers to determine failure rates for parts and building bills of material.  While at George Mason University studying for her Decision Science degree, Dagmar spent a semester researching software quality assurance and realized companies were not applying the same quality standards to software development as to manufacturing.  Dagmar continued to search for methodologies to improve management and control of software during her tenure at The MITRE Corporation to include testing the feasibility of Resource Life Cycle Analysis strategic information systems planning methodology which she implemented during her career at Verizon Logistics.

While at Verizon, Dagmar was assigned those "black swan" projects due to her unique "out of the box" solutions.  She has been at Lockheed Martin for the past five years supporting the FAA.  Dagmar is a frequent speaker and has spoken for DAMA Washington DC,IIBA Building Business Capability 2015 and IIBA Building Business Capability 2016
