Lessons from the PIT Crew: How to be a Confident Candidate

We are excited to welcome back Mark McDonald for a second event after his first one was cancelled due to the Covid 19 outbreak.  Mark will be giving a presentation ‘Lessons from the PIT Crew’, which provides a guide and an interactive discussion about how to be prepared for any interview situation.  The six themes are:

• Preparing for the interview - How to prepare to interview in general, and how to be prepared for a specific interview opportunity.
• Getting a good start - How to begin the interview to make a good first impression and set the stage for a productive discussion.
• Avoiding a crash - Common mistakes that candidates make and how to avoid them.
• Finishing strong - How to close the interview in order to gauge the interviewer’s interest and maximize the potential to continue to the next step in the interview process.
• Post interview activities - How to continue to make a good impression after the interview is over.
• Taking the lead - How to demonstrate enthusiasm during the interview and why that is so important.

The goal of the Practice Interview Team is to increase your confidence that you can interview well and have a voice for every interview situation.  This is accomplished by providing an opportunity to practice, to observe others as they practice, and to participate in group discussions.  Candidates get an opportunity to convince a panel of hiring managers that they are the right person for the job.  Feedback is provided and discussed for everyone’s benefit (both the candidate and the observers).  In 2019 the Crew provided 160 practice interviews and celebrated 115 landings.  Mark McDonald leads the PIT Crew.

Due to the concerns over the spread of COVID-19, this event will be held online through a Zoom video conference.

Registration ends 24hrs before the event.  This is a free event. Sign-in for the Zoom video event will start at 6:15 and the meeting will begin at 6:30.
All levels of experience are invited to learn and to contribute to the discussion.  
Admission is free to IIBA Dallas Chapter members ($30 per year to join). Non-members will be asked to pay $10 at the door.
