July 20th, 2017
A Value Based Approach to Business Architecture
As Business Architecture emerges as an Agile approach to strategic execution, practitioners are still struggling to demonstrate how valuable their unique perspectives and modeling efforts are inside their organizations. Many practitioners address this by spending their initial efforts crafting job titles, defining governance, and creating highly detailed capability models. An obsession with detailed capability models or enforcing documentation standards without taking the time to understand business strategy, culture and adoption, ends up being counterproductive. This approach often frustrates our customers, slows the overall adoption of the practice, and alienates us individually from the business. This presentation will cover the state of the practice, where we are getting stuck, and approaches that provide value to our internal customers.
